Originally called the mild hybrid by the automaker, General Motor’s eAssist hybrid system has been reinvigorated under the Buick LaCrosse and Regal. Now GM wants to share the technology with more of its cars. In addition to the upcoming 2013 Chevrolet Malibu, reports have it that the Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain will also be getting the eAssist for the 2014 model year.
Both GM crossovers will utilize the same system used in the Buick Regal, LaCrosse and Chevy Malibu sedans. In the two Buick’s, their receptive eAssist models are priced the same as their V6 counterparts. Both models get an EPA-estimated 25 mpg city and 37 mpg highway, which gives us an idea bout how frugal the Equinox and Terrain eAssists will be.
