If you think the Mercedes C63 AMG Coupe is an impressive piece of tech, wait until you get a load of the Brabus Bullit Coupe 800. Having ‘Bullit’ in its name should be an indicator that this is not an ordinary performance Benz… with a not so ordinary price tag of €378,000 (around US$507,000).
The regular C63 AMG Coupe comes with a 6.3-liter V8 engine that develops 451 horsepower and 600Nm of torque. Renowned tuning-house Brabus did away with the ‘measly’ — you read right — V8 and replaced it with a 6.3-liter twin-turbocharged V12 producing a monstrous 788-HP (800PS) at 5,500rpm and peak torque of 1,047 lb-ft (1,420 Nm), which has been electronically-limited to 811 lb-ft (1,100 Nm).
Equipped with a reinforced seven-speed automatic transmission sending the loads of power to the rear wheels, the Bullit Coupe 800 sprints from 0 to 62 miles per hour (100 km/h) in just 3.7 seconds, to 124 mph (200 km/h) in 9.8 seconds and to 186 mph (300km/h) in 23.8 seconds. Top speed is capped at a blistering 230 mph (370 km/h).
In addition to the beastly engine, handling and performance have been improved with a sport suspension with customer-selectable ride height and damper rates, limited-slip rear differential, special exhaust system, high-performance brake system with vented and grooved steel brake discs (380mm) and 12-piston aluminum fixed calipers in the front and vented and grooved steel discs (360mm) and six-piston fixed aluminum calipers in the rear.
Debuting at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, the Brabus Bullit Coupe is constructed from carbon fiber parts to keep weight down and rides on 20-inch wheels wrapped with 235/30 ZR 20 tires up front and 275/25 ZR 20 at the back. The interior features a sport steering wheel, aluminum pedals and shifter and genuine carbon-fiber components on the dashboard, center console and door trim. A combination of black leather and Alcantara cladding matches the interior to the dark exterior theme.
