Ferrari F12 Berlinetta vs. Lamborghini Aventador

With the unveiling of the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, the stage for an epic showdown has been set. The contender? Why the Lamborghini Aventador, of course. Two Italian exotic supercars, one choice — make your pick!

The Ferrari F12 Berlinetta is powered by a 6.3 liter V12 engine that delivers 730 horsepower and 509 lb-ft of maximum torque. The engine is mated to an F1 dual-clutch transmission, allowing for a sprint from 0 to 62 miles per hour (100 km/h) in 3.1 seconds and a top speed of 211 mph (340 km/h).

The Lamborghini Aventador, on the other hand, packs a 6.5L V12 making 700 horsepower and 509 lb-ft (690 Nm) or torque. Equipped with a new ISR (Independent Shifting Rod) transmission that sends all power through the car’s Haldex 4-wheel drive system, it runs from 0 to 62 mph in just 2.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 217 mph (349.23 km/h).

    Are these two really competitors?
The Ferrari seems to me to be a (über-) GT, while the Lambo is more of a supersportscar.
I can’t help but like ‘em both for their respective qualities.
The Ferrari’s styling is more graceful, as a GT should be IMO.
The Lambo is what I’d expect from a supercar, and quite good at it…

Many would say they are competitors, especially when considering their power outputs.

I agree with you that the Berlinetta looks more like a conventional coupe than the Aventador (a very sleek one), which looks like a true supercar.
