New Details on Lamborghini SUV

Lamborghini Crossover Concept back

Whether it wants to admit it or not, Lamborghini doesn’t want to miss out on the raging SUV craze and is uncharacteristically developing an SUV of its own. We have seen unofficial renders of said SUV, but the Italian automaker remains quiet on any details.

At a special preview event held at New York, select Lamborghini clientele were given a look at a potential new vehicle from the automaker. Unable to keep quiet, they have spilled the beans. That third model of course is the eagerly-awaited Lamborghini SUV.

According to one clientele, the SUV is about the size of the large Audi Q7 and has a body silhouette similar to that of the BMW X6, an observation that seems to be validated by the leaked renders. It will have a very muscular design, a high ride height, 24-inches wheels made for carbon fiber and carbon ceramic disc brakes.

The SUV seats four individuals and features a cabin bisected by a high center console that extends between the two rear passengers. The dashboard is said to be reminiscent of the one found in the Lamborghini Aventador, although the overall interior theme is said to be mainly inspired by the one found in the Sesto Elemento Concept. There will be numerous carbon touches.

When it makes its official debut at the 2012 Beijing Motor Show, Lamborghini’s new SUV will reportedly be called the “MLC concept”. It will have no relations to the automaker’s classic LM002 SUV of the late 1980s, but will likely pack a 5.2-liter V10 engine making around 584 horsepower (435 kW / 592 PS).
