The all-new Dodge Dart is the latest car to join the 40 mpg (U.S.) gang, joining such C-segment contenders as the Hyundai Elantra, Chevrolet Cruze and Ford Focus. There is a catch, however…
Much like the Cruze and Focus, only a certain Dart model equipped with a special Aero package can pull off that feat. The ‘Aero’ model will be available later in 2012 and will deliver at least 41 mpg on the highway.
As for the more standard Darts, models equipped with the 2.0-liter Tigershark engine and 6-speed manual get an EPA rating of 25 / 36 mpg (city / highway) and 29 combined, while those with the 1.4-liter MulitAir Turbo engine and 6-speed manual get an EPA rating of 27/39 mpg and 39 mpg combined.
These are some very competitive numbers for the segment.
