Scion FR-S Convertible for 2014 Model Year?

Scion FR-S

Car and Driver is reporting that the all-new Scion FR-S sports coupe will be joined by a convertible version sometime in late 2013 or early 2014. The topless FR-S will have a soft top and will be essentially the same as the coupe.

As a reminder, the 2013 Scion FR-S is equipped with a 2.0 liter naturally-aspirated 4-cylinder engine tied to a either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission and produces 200-hp at 7,000 rpm and 151 lb-ft of torque at 6,600 rpm. Available only in North America, it has a starting price of $24,930.

If the report proves true, then convertible variants of the near-identical Toyota GT-86 and Subaru BRZ have a good chance of seeing the day of light.
