As North Americans, we are big fans of the new Opel / Vauxhall Astra GTC. The car looks hot, plain and simple, and we hope it performs as well as it looks. In the above video, head designer Andrew Dyson talks us through the main design features of his creation. We also get to see the sleek and sporty hatchback cruise through the beautiful and curvy roads of Wales, UK.
As a reminder, the Opel / Vauxhall Astra GTC is offered with three powertrain options in Europe. There is a 2.0L common-rail turbo diesel producing 165 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque, allowing for a 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) time of 8.9 seconds and a top speed of 130 mph; a 1.4 Turbo gasoline unit making either 120-hp or 140-hp, with both variants mated to a 6-speed manual; and a 180-hp 1.6 Turbo gasoline unit mated to a 6-speed manual that reaches a top speed of 136 mph.
There are reports that North America might get the Astra GTC in the form of a Buick.
