More details on the Abarth Punto SuperSport have been released. Based on the Punto Evo Esseesse showcased at the 2010 Paris Auto Show, this performance hatchback features sharp looks and a number of bells and whistles.
The Punto SuperSport is powered by a 1.4-liter MultiAir engine that produces 178-hp (180 PS) and 199 lb-ft. (270 Nm) of torque. Using a six-speed manual transmission, it is able to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 7.5 seconds and reach a top speed of above 134 mph (216 km/h), while delivering an average 6.1 L/100km (around 46 mpg UK and 39 mpg US) in fuel-economy.
Key exterior highlights on the performance hatchback include Grey Campovolo body stripes, matte black accents and 17-inch alloy wheels. Inside, you have sport seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, stainless steel pedals, “electro chrome” trim and unique floor mats. Automatic climate control and Abarth’s Blue&Me connectivity system are just a few of the tech features that come standard.
With Italian prices starting at €21,900 (around $27,140 U.S.), only 199 units of the Abarth Punto SuperSport will be produced. European buyers should act fast if they want one.
