Chevrolet is one of the fastest-growing automotive brands in Europe. With a recently announced five-year partnership with British football club Manchester United, it is hoping it accelerate this growth momentum.
As the official automotive partner of the club, Chevy claims the focus will be on the fans. That is, the partnership will be geared towards bringing football enthusiasts “closer to the game than ever”. Now, isn’t that swell, if not a bit unbelievable. I mean, where’s the part about selling more cars? We’ll have to wait to see how this one turns out.
“Manchester United has some of the most passionate supporters of any sporting club in the world,” said General Motors Global Chief Marketing Officer Joel Ewanick. “The Chevrolet family is proud to partner with Manchester United and is fully committed to putting these fans at the center of everything we do.”
According to club officials, there are currently around 659 million Manchester United fans worldwide, which is a huge audience to try to sell cars to.
