Mercedes-Benz A-Class Crossover Confirmed

2013 Mercedes A-Class

Mercedes-Benz has officially announced that it will build an A-Class-based compact crossover that will slot under the GLK-Class SUV. Not much is know about the crossover, but rumors are aplenty.

Reports indicate that the new model could be called ‘BLK’ or ‘GLC’ and feature sporty styling with a coupe-like profile. It may also be offered in both three- and five-door configurations to better compete with the likes of the BMW X1, Audi Q3 and Range Rover Evoque.

The engine lineup will likely carryover from the A-Class. A front-wheel-drive setup will be standard, while an all-wheel drive system will be offered on more expensive trims.

The new crossover could hit dealerships as early as 2014.
