Cadillac Planning Large Crossover to Compete with BMW X5 and Mercedes ML?

Next Cadillac Escalade front

There have been a whole lot of reports on Cadillac as of late. As part of its earlier report that the company has approved the production of a rear-wheel-drive flagship sedan, Automotive News also mentioned that the brand was also planning a new large crossover that will compete with the likes of the BMW X5 and Mercedes-Benz ML.

Scheduled to go on sale sometime in 2015, the crossover will be larger than the existing SRX and will ride on an upgraded version of the Lambda platform, which underpins the Buick Enclave, GMC Acadia and Chevrolet Traverse.

For those concerned about the Escalade being replaced by this large crossover, Cadillac’s lineup will still have a spot for a proper SUV. An all-new, next-generation Escalade is expected to launch in the second half of 2013 and will share the same platform as the next Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe and the GMC Yukon.
