Having covered the revealing of the new 2013 Lexus LS 460 and F-Sport, we now turn our attention to the redesigned LS 600h L Hybrid, the lineup’s flagship model.
Sporting much of the same design elements as the other two models, the LS hybrid is distinguished by its distinctly-styled grille, prominent blue Lexus logo, and blue accented LED headlamps. In addition to offering the standard wood trims, its interior can be had in an exclusive, eco- friendly Bamboo wood trim (shown in the gallery below).
Unlike the LS 460 and F-Sport and their conventional gasoline powertrain, the LS 600h L’s revised hybrid powertrain links Lexus’ updated 5.0-liter V8 engine with a pair of electric motors to produce a combined 438-hp. With its electronically-controlled continuously variable transmission (ECVT), the large sedan goes from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 5.5 seconds and reaches an electronically-limited top speed of 130 mph (210 km/h).
The improved powertrain is expected to return an EPA fuel-economy rating of 19 mpg city, 23 mpg highway and 30 mpg combined. Only an all-wheel-drive setup will be offered with the LS 600h L.
