Lotus to build the Renault Alpine and Infiniti Emerg-e Sports Cars?

Lotus is in financial straits and could use any break it can get. Recent reports claim that the boutique automaker may land a contract to build the production versions of the Renault Alpine A110-50 and Infiniti Emerg-e Concepts.

According to AutoCar, Renault’s executives have stated that they are in talks with another automaker to jointly-develop the Alpine A110-50, leading to speculations that the sports car could be based on the Evora platform.

With regards to the Infiniti Emerg-e, Nissan’s head of design Shiro Nakamura has said that the production model could be built in Britain. The fact that all working prototypes are based on the Evora 414E concept just adds more fuel to the speculations that the model will be built by Lotus.

Nothing has been made official, so we’ll have to wait and see. Given that we like Lotus so much, we do wish in lands a deal with Renault and Nissan. It may be all that is needed to give the small British company a new lease on life.
