British Man Builds World’s Smallest Street-Legal Car

Sometimes I wonder what compels people to do the things they do or to build the things they build. But in the case of Perry Watkins, an “engineer” from the U.K., the reason might be for the sake of practicality. Watkins has built the world’s smallest car, a car that also happens to be street-legal.
Watkins is not new to creating something like this – he has been a record holder three times for having the world’s lowest car, the Flatmobile. So with the experience gained from that last project, he set to build his puny car using Postman Pat toy-car as a foundation and adding steel frame to its fiberglass shell. When all was finished, the car stood 39 inches tall and 26 inches wide.
Powering this toy-car is a 150cc single-cylinder engine mated to the rear-wheels. Watkins claims the car returns 70 mpg and has a top speed of 40 mph. The 70 mpg is enough to give the Toyota Prius and Honda Insight a run for their money, but for obvious reasons, I would prefer either of these two cars.
In case you toy don’t believe anything we have said, watch the video after the jump……

I would be afraid of dogs driving in that car. They will shred that thing into pieces playing with it.
