Chrysler’s Renaissance? Two Cars Are All it Needs
Posted by: Kwame Owusu on 11 Feb 2009Filed under: Chrysler, Chrysler's Renaissance?, Features
In a span of two years, Chrysler has managed to destroy whatever goodwill it had created with hits such as the PT Cruiser and 300C. Not only did the company fail to follow up on the success of these cars, but it insulted and downright spat on this success by producing and marketing the abomination that is the latest Sebring. The 300C, while still a good car, is now old and outdated, and the company doesn’t seem to care.
Today, Chrysler has no respect from critics, it has one of the weakest lineups in all of North America, and its on the brink of bankruptcy. You could say there is no hope for this company and I would agree with you, assuming the company stays the way it is. However, there is some hope if it manages to pool its resources to perfectly execute a complete overhaul of the 300C and to perfectly execute the development and marketing of the recently unveiled 200C concept. These two class of cars are what buyers are looking for. The company is already a relatively strong player in one and an embarrassment in the other. If Chrysler is successful in pulling off the the 200C as a replacement for the Sebring, it has the potential to greatly undo the immense damage to its reputation brought on by the latter vehicle.
As it stands, Chrysler has nothing to lose, so it better pull out all the tricks its has up its sleeves. People haven’t forgotten what the company is capable off. In fact, the perfect execution of the aforementioned models may go as far as to redeem the company for its recent mistakes. Chrysler needs to remind people that it’s not dead; the longer it waits to do this, the harder it’ll become to do so and the less hope there is for a Chrysler revival.

Very, very nice car. Chryler likely has a hit on its hand if the design of this car stays the way it is.
