The unpopular Honda Insight hybrid will be discontinued after its 2014 model year, according to a new report.

Honda’s much-maligned hybrid hatchback failed to give its arch rival, the Toyota Prius, much of a challenge; as a result, company insiders have told Autoblog Green that it will not receive a 2015 model year in the United States and likely in Canada, based on the fact that the company’s hasn’t begun work on any advertising campaign for the car.

The Insight has been so poorly received that the Honda Civic hybrid sells notably more, despite costing a few thousand dollars more. The upcoming Honda Fit sedan, which returns decent fuel economy figures, will also likely cannibalize its sales.

What is Honda to do about the Insight?
