And here I thought there was complete certainty that Chrysler would replace its lackluster Sebring with the 200C – it seemed like the most logical move for the struggling automaker. I never thought I would hear the word “considering” applied to such a decision, mainly because I didn’t think this was something that needed to be considered.

But we have to be reasonable here. Afterall, the automaker emerged from bankruptcy just two weeks ago and is dead broke. So while the 200C is needed badly, Chrysler will find it difficult to find the money to produce it.

The 200C is built on a smaller version of the rear-wheeled LX platform used on the Dodge Challenger, Charger and the Chrysler 300. Given that rear-wheel drive vehicles have lower fuel-economy than their front-wheel drive counterparts, Chrysler has shown more interest in the latter layout.

Aside from the LX platform, the automaker is also considering the D-EVO platform which will be used in the 2011 Alfa Romeo 159. Its new idea is to combine the D-EVO suspension with the LX platform, giving the 200C the best of both platforms and allowing Chrysler to change the car to a FWD layout. Enthusiasts would hate a shift to FWD, but sales numbers seem to favor FWD setups.

Regardless of what Chrysler decides, it needs to come up with something fast. The Sebring and Avenger are without a doubt abysmal, selling a mere fraction of what their competition does. Chrysler needs something quick before its situation in the mid-size car market becomes completely hopeless.

The front shape of its bonnet is really attractive. the round shape at the end of the bonnet where it is meeting the head lights is so fine. I am going to add this car in my list to be purchased.
