As we all know, there is not a single mainstream automaker not fazed by the global recession. Mitsubishi is no exception. The company reported a 54% decline in its January 2009 production, bringing it down to 53,339 units.
According to Mitsubishi, its production volume in Japan was down 65.0% to 25,392 units. Its overseas production totaled 27,947 units, a 35.3% drop from January of last year. This makes it eleven months straight that the company has realized a decline in production. Output was down by 66.5% in North America and by 20.3% in Europe. Both declines were attributable to sluggish sales in the respective regions.
Mitsubishi has been a struggling company for many years and its volume sales have been abysmal for about two decades. For this company to be still around means it’s one hell of a fighter.
