New Chevy Camaro SS 1LE Arrives, Get the Details

Along with officializing the price and performance specs for the gen-6 Camaro ZL1, General Motors released pricing for the new, 2017 Camaro 1LE packages, which can be had on both the V6 LT and V8 1SS coupes.

The Camaro 1LE fills the void between the regular Camaro trim levels and the extremely-powered l ZL1, featuring a number of configurations that make it suitable for both the street and race track.

Priced $4,500 over the Camaro V6 LT in the United States, the most affordable 1LE comes equipped with four-piston Brembo brakes, a mechanical limited-slip differential, 20-inch wheels wrapped around in Eagle F1 tires, and a dual exhaust system. It also features a firmer suspension and several fuel-delivery components borrowed from the SS.

Getting the package for the for the V8 1SS will fetch you $6,500, with the premium covering an electronic limited-slip differential, Magnetic Ride Control dampers, and six-piston Brembo brakes. GM claims maximum cornering forces of 1.02 g and braking distance of 107 feet from 60 mph (96 km/h).

The Chevrolet Camaro SS 1LE SS produces 455 horsepower from 6.2-liter V8 and is GM’s answer to the Ford Shelby GT350 Mustang. Despite having less power than the 526 horses claimed by the GT350’s flat-plane-crank V8, it is just as fast when accelerating from 0 to 60 mph, with a claimed time of 4.2 seconds.

With a price tag of $44,400, the Camaro SS 1LE also significantly undercuts the GT350 by more than $5,000.
