Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has announced announced official EPA efficiency figures for the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid.
With a certified 84 MPGe gasoline equivalency rating in the United States, the people-hauling plug-in hybrid is the most fuel-efficient minivan ever. It can drive for 33 miles (53 km) on electricity alone, a range that exceeds FCA’s original estimate of 30 miles (48 km), and up to 566 miles (911 km) in hybrid gas-electric mode.
Tim Kuniskis, FCA US LLC Head of Passenger Car Brands – Dodge, SRT, Chrysler and Fiat, stated:
“At 84 MPGe, the all-new 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid surpasses our initially stated performance. These EPA test results paint a clear picture of the benefits our customers can expect from driving the most fuel-efficient minivan ever.”
The Pacifica Hybrid’s powertrain combines FCA’s trusted 3.6-liter Pentastar engine, which has been adapted to use the fuel-sipping Atkinson combustion cycle, and a single motor that’s connected via a one-way clutch, allowing it to transition seamlessly between powering the wheels directly or serving as a generator to charge the 16-kWh battery.
Speaking of the the battery, it can be fully recharged in two hours using a 240-volt outlet.
