Next London double-decker bus
The need for a new, more fuel-efficient and roomier Double-Decker bus for London is well overdo. Northern Ireland’s Wrightbus has officially won the contract to build the city’s next double-decker bus and the depiction you see above is what it will look like.

As the new Routemaster, it’s roughly ten feet longer than the old Routemaster but seats two fewer people (there are now enough seats for 62 riders). The additional space is spent on improving accessibility in and around the bus. There are now two staircases, sparing riders from having to walk the length of the bus in order to exist at just one staircase.

With approval from London Mayor Boris Johnson, expect to see the new Routemaster on London’s streets in 2012. Check the video below for a walk-around of the bus.
