Volkswagen has finally revealed the sedan version of its compact Polo hatchback. The German automaker says it is the first ever VW developed specifically for the Russian market, which is not to say it will remain exclusive to Russian buyers. The Polo sedan is expected to launch in North America within a year to help the automaker reach its goal of selling 800,000 units a year by 2018.
In Russia, the Polo sedan will be offered with a new 1.6-litre Otto engine producing 105-horsepower. It can be mated to either a 5-gear manual gearbox or a 6-gear automatic gearbox with sequential shift function (Tiptronic). It will be available in three trim levels – Trendline, Comfortline and the top-of-the-line Highline, which comes with standard side air-bags and ESP.
Volkswagen did not release a lot of details on the car, but you can read through its press release for all the details that were provided.
