According to insiders, Saab is working on an all new 9-3, which will launch in 2012. It will be renamed as the Saab 93, excluding the dash between the numbers.
The new 93 will be the first to use a new platform, known as the “Phoenix Architecture”. It will also reintroduce the hatchback version that will build on the classic 900 model. A three-door hatchback, convertible and Sports Wagon versions will follow shortly after the sedan.
The 93 will be slightly bigger than the Audi A3, but Saab plans to keep pricing competitive and similar to Audi’s subcompact.
