2011 BMW M3 Getting Start/Stop Technology

BMW has released information to its that the 2011 BMW M3 will be getting start-top technology, which completely shuts down the engine when the car is at rest (otherwise known as start/stop technology). The feature will be standard on the sports car.
Fuel-economy is generally not the first thing that crosses the minds of BMW M3 shoppers, but the start-stop tech will be a welcomed addition so long as it doesn’t affect the M3′s performance that much.

Are there any other benefits to this start/stop technology besides saving on gas? Is there a way to disable it? I think I would be a bit annoyed if my car were to stop and start its engine on its own just because I was making a stop. This would take some getting used to.
