With the Toyota Prius V hybrid crossover around the corner, reports have it that Toyota may be considering a 7-seat Prius for the masses.
The three-row Prius would not be the same model as the Prius Alpha — basically a Prius V with a third row of seats crambed in the rear — sold in Japan. According to Bob Carter, Toyota’s division manager, the new Prius would be large enough to hold seven passengers more comfortably. North Americans are, on average, larger than their Japanese counterparts after all.
Currently, the concept is being studied — nothing has been finalized yet. After the the Prius V, Toyota will launch two more Prius models next year, the Prius C compact hybrid and a plug-in version of the standard Prius, extending the Prius family.
