Chevrolet Cobalt Concept for South America

Chevrolet Cobalt Concept

A poor reputation meant that the Cobalt nameplate was killed in favor of the Cruze name. Just when we thought the name was buried for good, we find out that GM has decided to carry-on with it in the South American market. The Chevy Cobalt “concept”, like the Chevy Colorado Rally Concept, was revealed at the Buenos Aires International Motor Show. It looks nothing like the Cobalt we had here, which is a good thing.

Although labeled as a “concept”, the new Cobalt is essentially production-ready. It will be powered by various engines, ranging from 1.3 to 1.8 liters units that can be run on gas, diesel or ethanol.

The South American Cobalt doesn’t look as bold as the new Cruze, but we hope it does better than the our Cobalt ever did. Its interior at least looks better than what we had.
