The production version of the latest Focus ST has been revealed. When we first saw the all-new 2013 Ford Focus ST — then a “concept” — at the 2010 Paris Motor Show, there was only a hatchback version. But for European buyers, a wagon version would be offered to complete the package. Once again, North American buyers will luck-out.
The Focus ST packs a 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine that produces 247 horsepower and an impressive 265 pound-feet of torque. Tuned to produce exquisite engine and exhaust notes, The engine is mated to a six-speed manual transmission that delivers power to the front wheels. The Focus ST’s electronic power assisted steering and torque steer compensation system works with the transmission to minimize torque-steer. Not only is the new engine more powerful, it is also more fuel-efficient than the unit in the older Focus ST.
Performance is enhanced by a set of 18-inch alloy wheels shod wearing high performance 235/40R18 Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 tires. A ‘Performance Pack’ that has the wheels in black with a high contrast red finish on the performance brake calipers comes optional. Other standard performance features include a rear apron/diffuser and a set of Recaro sport seats.
