The abomination that is the Aston Martin Cygnet made its world debut at this year’s Geneva Motor Show. Based on the Toyota iQ, the Cygnet features Aston Martin’s design language and offers a level of personalization that the iQ could only dream off. The British company claims that everything can be hand-picked by its owner via the their personalization program. We’re not sure that many people would buy this guised-up Toyota, but Aston Martin assures us that there will be buyers.

“Many of our customers have a need for a small car for urban and city use,” said Aston Martin Chief Executive, Dr Ulrich Bez. “The Cygnet Concept brings intelligence, innovation and artistry to the small car market. The Cygnet Concept represents the natural choice for those customers looking for a premium commuter car. Our past, our future and our backbone will always remain sports cars, but the Cygnet Concept will support this by offering our customers a greater degree of freedom in the urban context.”

The Cygnet will be powered by a 1.3L engine producing 97-hp, allowing it to hit a top speed of 105 mph. The company will make between 2,000 and 4,000 units and will sell them for around £20,000 (about $35,000 USD) each. The Cygnet will only be available to those who currently own an Aston.

Remember our earlier report on Aston Martin’s plan to rebadge Toyota’s upcoming iQ subcompact? We thought it was a crazy idea. But as it turns out, the British luxury brand was dead serious and recently released the first official pictures of its Cygnet. As you can see, it looks like a pimped out Toyota iQ with trademark Aston Martin design cues in an and out. The Cygnet will most likely be the most expensive subcompact to hit the market commercially.
